upgradin to 5.0.1

Writing down my travels of upgrading to 5.0.1 because I have nothing to write.

Used: iOS 4.1 for iphone4 (jb'ed with limerain, i think).

Download 5.0.1 using iTunes (must have IP4 attached via USB first). Its 790MB FTW.

Blobs may or may not have been saved before...

Tried to download Tiny Umbrella to save SHSH blobs but it needed Java Extensions, which I haven't had installed, so I just skipped saving my blobs before the update.

Hook up IP4 (jb'ed iOS 4.1) to PC, just press on OK to upgrade (and all media will be removed).

Let backup and updates run for like 10 mins or so.

Make that more than 10 minutes.

All this while your phone and PC does funky wet orgies after backing it your phone and goes on and off and on and off for like a few dozen times.

Wait some more for iTunes to restore apps......

Run it.

Instructions says to plug in, then turn off the phone, but I missed how the hell to do that, so I'm doing it my way:

Leave the phone on.

Oh, and before i did anything, I set up the phone for location services, setup my apple ID (the same one for Appstore and whatnot), "use iCloud", use it to backup over wi-fi, use find my iphone, DONT send diagnostics and usage, and finish the setup.

play around with it a bit.

Now, with the phone connected thru USB, press power until the slide to turn off is shown, then press HOME button and keep it there. then when the screen does not show, release the power button.

windows should say something like new USB device thingy whatever installed. Go to redsnow, and click on next (ignore the press power button shit; you just did that).

Jailbroken :)

Now select Cydia and multitask gestures, because i like gestures, ok?

click next, then the phone will say "downloading jailbreak data".

Then some DOS-like computer shit will come out on your screen, and Please wait... will continue.

And then a walking pineapple, saying: jailbreaking and whatshit.

The phone automatically reboots.

Redsnow says done.

I click cancel.

Cydia is IN.

I am happy.

Now to get installous and get myself whatsapp.
