And yes, I am very particular on sounds for my phone (gila). First we do this, then we control the world.
Using these two for lock/unlock screen via app installed from googleplay.
- Lockscreen sound: thinking dreamcast back sound. 0.626sec
- Unlock screen sound: using NDS's bootup sound.
Problem with using app is that there's a slight lag of a few miliseconds sometimes when unlocking the screen. Kinda irritating. Although NDS's sound is very comel banget.
Trying to change:
- Touch sound: thinking dreamcast select cursor sound. 0.1sec.
- Btw, google edition sounds version of S_HW_Touch.ogg is 0.156sec, 44.1KHz, 1Channel, 94kbps, Vorbis, lossy, tool: Xiph.Org libVorbis I 20070622
- Bootup sound: Any console bootup. Have a few on the phone.
- Notification sound(s): I think there are several types, i.e. some for apps, some for email (Gmail specific?). This makes me wonder whether I can customize according to apps. E.g. ring for whatsapp, bell for LINE, -ahe for email, etc.
Others:
- dreamcast proceed sound. 0.574sec
- dreamcast game start sound. 0.985sec
- dreamcast chuchu game start sound. 1.551sec
Other notes:
- Actually downloaded sounds from someone actually fiddling with DC's menu and then crop the sounds from scratch because apparently the internet doesn't have them separately (and yes, its been a while since I've actually done something rather than relying on the internet for help).
- Follow google edishun's encoding, bitrate whatnot.
- Foobar2000 is my friend now.
- WaveEditor can't load sounds less than 0.1sec?
So I need to root my phone.
Still trying to do that.
Will update when I do.
UPDATE:
rooting my GT-I9500 (this is only for my own reference)
using Win8 64bit:
Download samsung USB files
Install that muthafukka.
Run on compatibility mode when prompted because prolly for older windouhs?
On phone:
press power, home and volume down button all at once. hold.
wait until Warning!! Bla bla bla bla bla Volume up: Continue. Therefore Volume up.
See Downloading... Do not turn off target!!
Connect phone to PC via USB.
Back on win8:
Download ODIN
Download clockworkmod (CWM) recovery by cofface v3.0

NOW FUCK DAT SHIET wwwww
...... or so I thought.
Turns out copying files from my PC to the system folders aren't that easy.
On PC:
So now I'm downloading the android SDK
and then installing android commander (yes, its old and kinda fishy but what the hell, I NEED THEM SOUNDS)
On phone:
settings > more > about device > tap on build number more than 10 times to activate developer mode
back, developer options > USB debugging on
google play > search and install busybox > grant superuser > fucking install that shit, aint nobody got time for dat smart install shit.
..... wait fuck that shit I found this app on googleplay: ADB ..................
AND FUCK THAT SHIT TOO.
In the end, I'm just going to copy to SD, then copy to ui folder using file explorer. fuck this shit, seriously.
Aaaaannnnd we're done.
Just make sure all sounds are normalized to have peak at around say 6dB so their loudness should be okay.
I don't remember where I got file manager, but I did. There was a setting in the app that changes the permissions for system folders so I could overwrite the stupid old ones.
Also, I must reboot the device so the changes take place. I think it took me like 30mins to 1hour to figure that out.
Now I'm thinking whether the late nights of lupa anak bini were worth it or not.
Of course not!, she said.
